About ATFIG
The Australian Tamil Film Industry Guild (ATFIG) is a registered Australian association established to bring together people involved in the Tamil film industry and to create a stronger platform for collaboration, development and growth.
ATFIG is founded on the belief that Tamil filmmaking should not be limited by geographical boundaries. Tamil filmmakers and film professionals are located across Australia and around the world. By connecting these communities, we can create new opportunities for collaboration, distribution, learning and investment.
Our Background
Tamil filmmaking among Eelam Tamils has a history dating back to the 1960s. However, the development of a sustainable Tamil film industry was significantly affected by the civil war in Sri Lanka. Many Tamil people were displaced around the world, and filmmakers continued their creative work in different countries and communities.
Despite this talent and commitment, the industry lacked a strong international platform connecting filmmakers, distributors, technicians, artists and audiences. Many films were created independently but struggled to reach audiences beyond their immediate communities.
ATFIG is part of an effort to build the connections and infrastructure needed to change this.

To connect, support and empower Tamil filmmakers and film industry professionals in Australia and around the world.
Our initial focus is to build strong industry connections and develop a network of Tamil film distributors across different countries. By creating a stronger distribution network, we aim to help Tamil films reach wider international audiences and create greater commercial opportunities for filmmakers.
